Howl August 30, 2010
August 30th, 2010 · Uncategorized
Welcome to another wonderful New Year at Holland Hill! As with every year, I want to start the year thanking you. I know that I talk about this a great deal, but it’s an important fact. You entrust us with the most precious gifts you have to offer, your children. We all take the responsibility of these gifts very seriously. We will spend the year working with you to meet the needs of these precious gifts and wonderful things will happen. Together, home and school make a powerful team. Thank you for helping us to make a difference in the lives of your children.
This is my twenty-sixth year working as an educator and sixth year as Holland’s proud principal. I consider myself to be so very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community known as Holland Hill. It truly is a place where seeds are planted and children grow. They grow through the caring support given from all its members. Thank you for all you do to make this garden thrive. Happy New School Year to you all.
Welcome back Holland Hill families! I hope you all had a wonderful summer–it seems like it was June just yesterday!
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the annual Back to School Breakfast–put together by our awesome Hospitality committee–on September 2, right after drop off in the APR. I also hope you’ll join me at our first PTA meeting of the year, Thursday September 16. We’re fortunate enough to have our Chief of Police give a presentation on ways to keep our children safe.
Attached you’ll find the rest of September’s Dates to Remember–be sure to mark your calendars. Finally, if you’re looking for any flyers or information you feel you might have missed, don’t forget to check out our website: hollandhillpta.org. Our Howls are being backed up there on a weekly basis–along with links to get past flyers, dates to remember, and all kinds of pertinent Holland Hill information. I’m really looking forward to working with you all this year!

Operation Hope dinner
IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE THERE ARE PEOPLE WITHOUT FOOD OR SHELTER… BUT THERE ARE.
There are people in our community who do not have enough money left after paying for housing or other basic necessities to purchase food. Last year Operation Hope provided 137,000 meals to people in need through donations of meals from churches, synagogues, school groups, individuals and families.
On July 20th the Holland Hill PTA will provide a meal to Operation Hope. Please signup to provide something that will help a hungry neighbor. This simple lesson in giving to others will truly make a difference.
We need: 2 more people to make chicken, 4 people to make pulled pork, 4 people to make coleslaw, 4 people to make beans, 3 people to make veggies, 2 people to make pasta salad, 2 people to make salad, and 3 more donations of fruit. Please make enough to serve six people.

Important BLUEFISH game info (in case of rain on Thursday, June 16)
June 16th, 2010 · Uncategorized
In the event that four and a half innings of a Bluefish game have not been played, your ticket can be exchanged at the Box Office for a ticket of equal value to any future home game played at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, based on availability.
INDIVIDUAL TICKETS:
• Tickets to rained out games may be redeemed for tickets of equal or lesser value to ANY Bluefish home game during the 2010 Bluefish regular season. In order to receive your new tickets you must bring your ticket from the rained out game to the Bluefish Box Office at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Tickets are NOT refundable and may be used to upgrade to a higher priced section (if available).
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
• Just because it is raining at your house doesn’t mean it is raining at the ballpark!!
o If the Bluefish play an official game and a fan decided not to come out to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard because of inclement weather at the fans house they cannot exchange that ticket.
• Updates on the status of games can be found
o On the Official Bluefish Website – www.bridgeportbluefish.com
o On our many local radio partner stations
• If it is raining before the scheduled game start time…
o The Bluefish Tarp Crew has been hard at work protecting the field against the elements. This being the case, if the rain stops before the scheduled start time, the game will continue as planned. If the rain continues into the scheduled game time, Bluefish management will invoke a rain delay.
