Collection of non perishable items during Memorial Day Parade

On Monday, May 31, The Fairfield Rotary Club will have a truck preceding the start of the Memorial Day Parade in Fairfield, collecting non perishable items to be donated to the “Homes For The Brave” in Bridgeport. Click here for details: www.homesforthebrave.org.

School Lunch Program Review

Fuel for Learning Partnership, a PTA Council standing committee, will be presenting a request to review the school lunch program to the Board of Education on Tuesday, May 25th, at 730pm at the Education building, 501Kings Highway East, 2nd floor.

Patriot’s Day
On Friday, May 28, 2010 at 8:45 a.m., we will celebrate Patriots Day at Holland Hill.  This is also our “Special Person’s Day”.
The rain date for this celebration will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

The BJ’s Membership Fundraiser is back!!!
If you already have an existing membership and want to renew or if you are joining for the first time this fundraiser will will help you and Holland Hill. Each membership or renewal takes $10.00 off the regular price, adds 3 months to the yearly membership and gives Holland Hill $5.00. May PTA meeting
Please join us this Thursday May 20th, for our May PTA meeting, where we’ll be saying thank you to all of our outgoing Executive Board, and welcome to next year’s board. As usual, childcare will be provided from 7-8,  fill out the attached PTA General Meeting flyer and send it back to school marked PTA babysitting. Hope to see you there!

Mr. Leadem Memorial: A Celebration of Life
Please join us in celebrating the life of Richard Leadem,  Holland Hill’s principal from 1990 – 2005, on May 19th 2010.  The celebration will take place from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Holland Hill starting in the APR and then outside on the front lawn.  Please see the above attachment for details and RSVP date.  The PTA is providing the refreshments for the celebration so if you are interested in donating finger food items or beverages for this wonderful event please feel free to contact Trish Simmons at Trishmsw@hotmail.com.  We would appreciate any donation you might be able to make.  Thank you and hope to see you there!
The children, parents and staff of Holland Hill School will be honoring Richard Leadem, our past principal, by donating to Sathi Nepal, a charity that helps to provide children from the country of Nepal with educational support.  This charity also supports good health and family preservation. Fund raising will begin on May 3rd and end on May 14.  Please be as generous as you can to support this worthy charity and to honor this great man.
HOLLAND HILL SPRING FAIR – CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

The weather is getting warmer and the Spring Fair is just around the corner but we need your help to make it come to life.
We’re looking for volunteers to set-up and clean-up and run the games, activities and prize table throughout the day.  Parents, older siblings, teachers, alumni, family, friends and neighbors – everyone is welcomed! Able to help out  or have questions?

Tricky Tray tickets
Tricky Tray tickets will be sold on Thursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th in front of the school. Tickets will also be sold the day of the Spring Fair on Saturday, May 15th. Tickets are 4 for $1.00 or 25 cents each. Winners will be drawn at 3:30 on Saturday at the fair. You do not need to be present to win. Any questions please contact Donna Feeney at JorDnBri@aol.com.
Early Bird Sales for the Spring Fair
We will be having Early Bird Sales for the Spring Fair on Thursday,May 13th & Friday, May 14th. In the school lobby from 7:30am until 8am. Tickets will be 5 for a $1.00 on these two mornings. At the fair they will be 4 for a $1.00  So hit the Early Bird Special and Save!
Fitness Fun Day is around the corner and volunteers are needed to help run the stations again this year.
The Date for Fitness Fun Day is Friday, May 21, 2010  Rain-dates: May 24 and May 25
For those that are new to Holland Hill this year, Fitness Fun Day is a non-competitive field day.   The students, faculty, staff and volunteers had a great time last year.  Please come out and join the fun!  We are looking for two volunteers for each station about 20 people per shift.  Please see the attached sign up letter.

It’s almost time for the 23rd Annual Pete Carroll Road Race to kick off our Spring Fair.  Please see attached for details and registration and start your training!!!  If you don’t know if you can run til Saturday, come on down Saturday at 9:45-10:00 with a parent and you can sign up then, but please try to sign up ahead of time for planning purposes.

Cub Scout Pack 89 is collecting used or unwanted trophies of any kind. If you have any trophies you would like to get rid of (even broken ones!) we will take them. Kindly bring them to school and place in the collection bin in the lobby. Feel free to remove personalized plates if you wish. Thank you for helping us to recycle!
