Howl June 21, 2010

Note from Mr. Arnone
As we come to the close of the final week of the 2009-2010 school year, it is with great pride that I say how fortunate I feel to be a part of a community of educators who are second to none and families who work to make the home and school connection possible and capable and caring children who follow the models given to them at home and school. Thank you for making our school the kind of place that it is and enjoy your summer. I look forward to seeing you all in September when we open up our next school year. May this year and all the years ahead be just as wonderful.

Last Day of School is Friday, June 25
Remember, both June 24 and June 25 are Early Dismissal Days (12:50pm) and the cafeteria will not be serving lunches.

Howls
The last Howl for the 2009-2010 school year was e-mailed on June 21. We hope you have a great summer and look forward to seeing everyone back in the Fall. The e-mail distribution list will be updated over the summer. If you will be back next year, you do not need to do anything. However, if you do not receive a welcome e-mail by the first day of school OR if you continue to receive e-mails and are no longer at Holland Hill, please contact elizabetharkay@gmail.com.

Memory Books are here!
This year’s Memory Books have arrived and look great! They will be distributed to those who ordered them on Thursday, so please look for them in your child’s backpack. If you did not order one and would like one or would like an extra copy, there is still a chance to buy one. We will have a table set up in front of the school Thursday morning (and Friday if any left) to sell the last few books. If you think you ordered one and do not receive it Thursday, please stop by the table or contact elizabetharkay@gmail.com.

School Garden at Holland Hill
Calling all parents, faculty and interested parties! Like many other schools in Fairfield, we are exploring the school garden concept here at Holland Hill and would love to gather a group of people who are would like to help. Gardening can teach a lifetime of skills and values to our children – and what better way to learn these skills than to work together beside friends, teachers and mentors to develop a lasting – and living legacy here at HH. You need not be a master gardener to join us! Just bring your interest, enthusiasm and desire to get involved.
When: Tuesday June 22, 8:15 a.m. APR

Operation Hope dinner
IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE THERE ARE PEOPLE WITHOUT FOOD OR SHELTER… BUT THERE ARE.
There are people in our community who do not have enough money left after paying for housing or other basic necessities to purchase food. Last year Operation Hope provided 137,000 meals to people in need through donations of meals from churches, synagogues, school groups, individuals and families.

On July 20th the Holland Hill PTA will provide a meal to Operation Hope. Please signup to provide something that will help a hungry neighbor. This simple lesson in giving to others will truly make a difference.

We need: 2 more people to make chicken, 4 people to make pulled pork, 4 people to make coleslaw, 4 people to make beans, 3 people to make veggies, 2 people to make pasta salad, 2 people to make salad, and 3 more donations of fruit. Please make enough to serve six people.
