HOWL September 13, 2010

NEWS:

From Mr. Arnone:
Happy Monday to you all.  Welcome to the first five day week of the 2010-2011 school year.  Everyone is excited to start the week and spend time together for new learning opportunities.  We’ll also be using the week to prepare for our upcoming Open House events.  Please read the attached letter that outlines these important opportunities for you to learn about what will be going on in your child(ren)’s classrooms throughput the year.  Thank you in advance for arranging to have childcare for your children to enable you to attend.   We’re looking forward to a great evening of learning and sharing.
Enjoy your week.

Fall Family Picnic:
Come on over to the Fall Family Picnic at Holland Hill. Friday September 24th at 5pm ( rain date friday Oct.1st). More details to follow.

Volunteer Meeting:

Monday, 9/13

September PTA Meeting:

Thursday, 9/16 at 7:00pm

We were hoping to have our police chief, Gary MacNamara do a presentation on keeping our children safe, however due to a scheduling conflict, we’ve had to postpone that presentation. But, we do have the budget to vote on for this coming year! If you’re interested in or curious to see how your PTA dollars are being spent, definitely come Thursday night.

We’ll be meeting at 7:00 in the library, and are pleased to offer FREE babysitting from 7-8. Please arrive at 6:45 to sign in, and the PTA meeting will break at 8:00 in time for pickup, and continue after. Our babysitting program is not a drop off program, and can accommodate children ages 3 years up to the 5th grade. If you would like to participate in this FREE program, please fill out the form here, http://hollandhillpta.org/pta-forms/babysitting/

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tracie Haner Valentino at tracie@traciedesigns.net, or 333-1232.

1st School Store of the year! The School Store is this Friday, September 17. Parents, make sure to print the attached School Store order form, fill out your child’s name and supplies selection. Put it in a Ziploc bag with money (cash or check to Holland Hill PTA). Send the whole thing to school on Friday. Kindergarten parents: please note that kindergarteners students do not visit the School Store (they will starting in 1st grade) but receive their ordered supplies in the classroom.

If you’re new to Holland Hill, you may wonder what the School Store is. It takes place one Friday per month, next to the library in the hallway. It consists of a few tables and display cases containing fun and inexpensive school supplies. The students visit the store the beginning of their recess. It is a real spirit booster for them as they get to choose their own supplies and use their counting skills adding and subtracting money.

School Store Volunteering:I’m looking for a friendly co-chair to help me run the School Store. It’s an easy and fun job and requires a commitment of only 3 hours on one Friday morning per month (10 am to 1pm) setting up the supplies and helping our lovely Holland Hill students with their shopping.  I’m also looking for helpers. If you can spare one hour or two on one Friday per month or a few Fridays per year, please contact me. Thank you, Florence Pindrys 255-6023, pindrys@yahoo.com
