Holland Hill PTA Talent Show – Talent show season is here!!!

Update Jan. 9:

Talent Show Previews

Jan 24th & 27th
It’s Show Time Again, time to get your acts for the show ready for previews for
Jan 24th and 27th.  Please see the attached flyer for all the information

Update Jan 2nd:

The Talent Show Committee is already hard at work planning the 2012 Talent Show and we’d like to share some information with all of our talented students at Holland Hill

* Because in past years the show has gotten so big and has ran so long, again this year the students in grades K – 3 will be allowed to be in just ONE act.  Students in grades 4 & 5 can still be in two acts.  This will help keep the show from running too long.

*Some tips for a successful, stress free act: Don’t choose something to difficult for your child – we want this to be fun!

*If using the piano accompanist, be sure to choose a piece that will sound good with only a piano and not a full band.   Show tunes work very well and our accompanist is familiar with so many of them-thats half the battle.

*Remember, no lip-synching – don’t have your children prepare an act that include lip-synching only to have them be disappointed at previews when they are told they can’t sing along to a recorded piece.

*Group acts are great and help alleviate some of the back stage jitters!
Previews will be Tuesday, January 24  if you DO NOT need piano and Friday January 27th if you WILL need the piano. (please be patient because preview days tend to run a bit long but regular rehearsal each week are not as long)

The show is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th time TBA.  It will be a night show!  Dress rehearsal will be Friday, April 27th time TBA.

Please keep in mind; only one act per song so, before you start rehearsing, you should check with the committee to be sure someone else isn’t already using that piece. First come First served!!!!!!!!!

Please see our second announcement after the holiday break in the HOWL, about accepting your ideas for acts.

HOWL December 19, 2011

From your Principal:
On Friday, December 16, all of our 1st through 5th students received their report
cards. This is a very important time for our children and our entire Holland Hill
community. These cards represent the culmination of the efforts of an important
team. The team of our children, staff and parents. As I shared before with conferences,
take the time to celebrate the successes that your children have made throughout
this past trimester. It is also a time to reflect on the areas that will need
attention during the upcoming marking periods. We all know how important this team
effort is to our children. We all appreciate the efforts that will be taken to focus
on this important period in the school year and look forward to the time we spend
working together.
I wish you all a wonderful Holiday Break and New Year. Our school truly is a place
where seeds are planted and children grow. They grow through the caring support
given from all its members. Thank you for all you do to make this garden thrive.
Keep up the great work.
Mr. Arnone

From our School Social Worker,
Mrs. Martin:
Dear Holland Hill Community,
For years now some families of the Holland Hill Community have needed an extra helping
hand during the year and at holiday times.  This year is no different.  What is
different is that the economy has also touched the lives and businesses of those
who have helped us.
In thinking outside of the box this year, the staff is working with some of the
students to put together a food drive called “Friends Helping Friends” that will
last through December 20. Each classroom will be assigned an item(s) for donation
and will have a donation box outside of their door for donations to be placed in.
Should you have any questions you may call or email Mrs. Martin
Thank you for your generosity.
Mrs. Martin
